We care about men. We aim to create the most comfy men's pyjamas in the world. Because sleep is important.
But.... when it comes to men's health - there are some very important issues that need to be properly addressed. Quick.
If you haven't heard of the Movember movement... then you might be confused as to why there are so many moustaches around during the month of November. Well - it's simple. Movember is a campaign started in 2003 to bring awareness to mens health. And they've done pretty damn well, with five million 'Mo Bros' and 'Mo Sisters' (as they call them) helping the cause since inception.
At Drift Sleepwear we want to play our part too. We will explain how, but first, some information and statistics behind the main issues that Movember is trying to tackle.
Prostate Cancer is surprisingly common
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK. Cancer research UK released these worrying statistics
The global numbers are just as bad, more than 1.3 million men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. Thankfully the survival rate is promising especially if caught early. So it's all about awareness and testing.
The main thing to remember is if you are 50 then you need to speak to your doctor about PSA testing. And if you are black or have family history then this should be done even sooner, at 45. Don't leave it too late.
Testicular Cancer treatment is a tough slog
The survival rates of testicular cancer are 95% which is relatively good as far as cancer goes. But the longer term treatments can have quite an impact on men that are diagnosed.
This isn't just for 'oldies' either... being much more prevalent in younger generations. So, all men should regularly check themselves and ensure they 'Know Thy Nuts':

Suicide rates are way too high in men
Samaritans research found that men in the age bracket of 45 - 49 are at the highest risk of suicide and this is increasing each year!
Men are less likely to speak up when they are feeling down. The 'macho' persona that many men believe is how they should behave only worsens this.
Now, more than ever, in times where we are isolated from one another - this becomes even more of a problem. Many men don't have the outlet they need at a time when they need it most. That's why identifying people at risk and helping them find support is so important right now.
How Movember is helping men's health
The great Movember cause is raising money and awareness to help the three issues highlighted above. They make it easy for individuals to raise money for the cause by growing a moustache or undertaking various challenges.
How Drift Sleepwear is participating in Movember
We will be donating £10 to the Movember campaign for every pair of Kingston Pyjama Bottoms / Shorts purchased during the month of November.
